Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite holidays. The word alone “Thanksgiving” is all about giving thanks and being grateful for all of the bounty in our lives. The feast is representative of this but the people we get to share it with is where all the real joy comes from. But how do you plan and decorate for that perfect feast?
Because the center theme behind Thanksgiving emanates from the table and decorating tables is truly one of my most favorite passions! I thought I would share some ideas I have used and have served me well over the years.
As big time admirers of nature, we suggest you go with a nature theme. Begin by taking a stroll out in your neighborhood possibly grab a family member you haven’t seen for a while. Look at the objects nature has given as the seasons change. I typically start by collecting leaves of different colors and then scatter them down the center of the table – the variety of color tones will look great on your table and show off the beauty of nature. Next, instead of flowers think of fruits and vegetables such as artichokes, corns, and pomegranates make a simple harvest inspired arrangement and when your feast is over these items won’t go to waste.
Lastly, If you want to go a step further on your vegetable assortment, consider this tip on your artichokes: Cut out the middle of your artichokes and place in a small candle. Place these along with other candles (create different heights) in the center of the table. Soak in the ambiance and let the energy from the candles radiate throughout the room. A wise person once told me for every candle we light we bring a positive soul from our past back to visit us.
Wishing you and yours a very happy thanksgiving!
